This recipe creates a rich and decadent chocolate buttercream frosting.
Ingredients

- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. If it is too thin, add more powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Let the frosting come to room temperature before using.
