Indulge in a decadent chocolate mousse cake. It features layers of moist chocolate cake and creamy chocolate mousse.

- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
- Bake cake in a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
- Let cake cool completely. Slice into two layers.
- Melt bittersweet chocolate in a double boiler or microwave.
- In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in melted chocolate.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with half of the chocolate mousse.
- Top with the second cake layer and spread with remaining mousse.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- You can use different types of chocolate for the mousse.
- Adjust the amount of powdered sugar to your liking.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or fresh berries.
