Description

Indulge in a decadent chocolate mousse cake. It features layers of moist chocolate cake and creamy chocolate mousse.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
  2. Bake cake in a greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.
  3. Let cake cool completely. Slice into two layers.
  4. Melt bittersweet chocolate in a double boiler or microwave.
  5. In a large bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold in melted chocolate.
  7. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with half of the chocolate mousse.
  8. Top with the second cake layer and spread with remaining mousse.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

  • Adjust the amount of powdered sugar to your liking.
