Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained and patted dry
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in egg and almond extract until dough forms.
  5. Fold in walnuts and cherries.
  6. Press dough into an ungreased 8×8 inch baking pan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  8. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
