- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In a separate bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, and molasses.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in boiling water until batter is smooth.
- Beat in eggs one at a time.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before frosting.
Notes
- Add cream cheese frosting for extra flavor.
- Store in an airtight container.
