Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, and molasses.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in boiling water until batter is smooth.
  6. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool completely before frosting.

Notes

  • Add cream cheese frosting for extra flavor.
