Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (360g)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (225g)
  • 12 oz Irish beer (355ml)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (56g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.
  3. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.
  4. Pour in the Irish beer and stir gently until just combined. The batter will be thick. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Spoon batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. Pour melted butter evenly over the top of the batter to create a golden crust.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool slightly before slicing.
