- 3 cups all-purpose flour (360g)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (225g)
- 12 oz Irish beer (355ml)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (56g)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.
- Pour in the Irish beer and stir gently until just combined. The batter will be thick. Avoid overmixing.
- Spoon batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Pour melted butter evenly over the top of the batter to create a golden crust.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
- Serve warm with butter or your favorite spread.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
