Description

Enjoy delicious red velvet waffles with a creamy cream cheese drizzle. This recipe is easy to follow and perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1¾ cups buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for drizzle)
  • 23 tbsp milk (for drizzle consistency)

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: Whisk eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla, and red food coloring.
  3. Combine: Stir wet ingredients into dry until just combined. Rest batter 5 minutes.
  4. Cook waffles: Preheat and grease waffle iron. Cook batter until waffles are crisp and cooked through.
  5. Make drizzle: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then milk until pourable.
  6. Serve: Drizzle cream cheese glaze over warm waffles and add desired toppings.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, use buttermilk. If you don’t have buttermilk, add 1 tbsp of vinegar to regular milk.
  • Adjust the amount of red food coloring to your preference.
  • Serve waffles immediately for the best texture.
