- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
Cinnamon Swirl:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Topping:
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon for the swirl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer.
- Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brown butter.
- Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature.
- You can add a glaze for extra sweetness.
