Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream

Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon for the swirl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer.
  7. Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle over the batter.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use brown butter.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature.
  • You can add a glaze for extra sweetness.
