Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out snowflake shapes using cookie cutters.
  8. Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes before rolling for easier handling.
