Description

Make delicious Strawberry Puff Pastry Danishes with this easy recipe. You can enjoy flaky pastry, creamy filling, and fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, for dusting
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the egg and milk to make an egg wash; set aside.
  3. Beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  4. Toss the sliced strawberries with 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and let sit for a few minutes.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheet. Cut into 8 equal rectangles or squares.
  6. Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Score a border about 1/2 inch from the edges of each piece, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  7. Brush the borders lightly with the egg wash.
  8. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the cream cheese filling into the center of each pastry, spreading it within the scored border.
  9. Top the cream cheese with a few slices of sugared strawberries on each pastry.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed and the filling is set.
  11. Remove from the oven and let the danishes cool slightly on the baking sheet.
  12. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla until smooth and pourable. Drizzle over the slightly cooled danishes.
  13. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For best results, use high-quality puff pastry.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the glaze to your preference.
  • You can substitute other berries for the strawberries.
