Description

Make spicy Nashville Hot Mozzarella Sticks at home. This recipe is a copycat of Chili’s version. Enjoy crispy, cheesy goodness with a kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs (90 g)
  • 1/2 cup regular breadcrumbs (60 g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • 1/4 cup oil (from frying or fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella sticks if desired and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  2. Place flour in one bowl, whisk eggs with milk in another, and mix breadcrumbs with spices in a third bowl.
  3. Dip each stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat for a double coating.
  4. Freeze coated sticks for 30 minutes to prevent melting during frying.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry sticks for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Mix oil with cayenne, paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt.
  7. Brush or toss mozzarella sticks in the Nashville hot sauce.
  8. Serve immediately while hot, crispy, and melty.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cheese sticks are thoroughly frozen before frying.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the heat level of the Nashville hot sauce.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or blue cheese dressing.
